Scotland Tour

Well, Scotland was a bit disappointing too -- as far as boxing goes. Got to see plenty of sights, though and a chance to sample some of the famous Scotch. I'm afraid that my imbibing impaired my ability to sniff out a couple of boxes we did attempt :( I did get to see the recognized northernmost point of the UK -- John O'Groats.
We went to Loch Ness, but I didn't even see Nessie. It wasn't until later that I learned Nessie is at my home in the States! A pic will have to be posted later.
We came home to Yorkshire and I've been promised to get some boxing in before I go on to my next host.

Visit to Dartmoor

Well, I've been quite busy, but haven't found a lot of boxes. My host packed me up at 7am one morning and we headed down to Dartmoor to meet some other letterboxers. We had a couple of hours to kill so we stopped by Hound Tor because my host knew that The Hound of the Baskervilles is my favorite story. After some choice pictures were taken, she took me to The Plume of Feathers Pub for some refreshment and a neat letterbox :)

She is taking me to Scotland soon. Hope it works out better!

UK Meet

My initial misgivings about the intentions of my host seem to be unfounded. She packed me up very carefully and we went to a very British letterboxing Meet. There was a lot of excitement. I got to me an authentic Dartmoor letterboxing dog -- she even had a tag on her collar! I have to admit that I'm very jealous :( What a souvenir to come home with but my own Dartmoor dog tag! At the Meet everyone seemed very nice and I was the hit of the event (okay, maybe not-- afterall, they were there for the letterboxes, but I did have my share of attention :) Lots of exchanging and stamping going on. I did learn why Lily is a Dartmoor dog, though. She is very quick and very sneaky! YT and I had hidden a hitchhiker in one of our boxes we planted for the meet, and when we went looking for Lily's box, there was our hitchhiker! Wow. I still don't know how she got past us. I guess I have a little way to go before I could hope to earn the right to be a Dartmoor dog if Lily is any example!

I Arrived!

Phew, - I absolutely exploded out of my wrappings this morning! It had been a tight squeeze, and after languishing at the post office for two days it felt great to be able to breathe out again and jump around. My first thought was to go searching for a letterbox. I found one and jumped up onto it, but was extremely puzzled as to where the stamp might be. I could only find one opening and realised that if I jumped down to the bottom to look for the stamp I would never get out again! This British Letterboxing was going to be trickier than I had first thought.... Oh well, I will just have to wait for the Great British AQ Meet on Saturday. There are sure to be a lot of British letterboxers there who would explain things to me. I'm going to have to keep an eye on my host, though. She keeps petting me and fussing over me, trying to feed me things she calls "Farley's Rusks." I hope she doesn't get too attached to me!

Och, aye!

My name is Farley, and I'm a Westie. I was rescued from a bookstore in America and am on my way to the UK to visit with Yorkshire Tortoise. She needs a buddy to go with her to an LB Meet. I'm quite portable and very friendly. I hope to visit some other Brit hosts while there. Stay tuned for my adventures!
